A lot of people would like to work from home but are afraid of all the scams out there.  If you are disciplined and can set up a quiet work station, there are legitimate places to work from home.  You have to rearrange your schedule so that you are “at work” on time with no kids or distractions.  Also, make sure your friends and family understand that work time is “do not disturb” bime.  If that is for you, this list will give you a place to start.

Note: Some of these places rely on a credit check, some don’t.  Some require an upfront processing fee but others don’t.  Most do require a dedicated phone line but may or may not need long distance on it.  Take your time and look for the situation that fits you.  Then expect it to take a few weeks to get approved and set up and there is some training time involved as well.  If you are out of work, that may seem disappointing but the time is going to go by anyway.  You might as well be moving forward toward getting out of your present circumstances.
