An on-line friend of mine has written a page that resonates with the type of mindset that you have to develop to overcome major financial hardship.  Her name is Patricia and she goes by the name of JewelsofAwe.  She says,

” So….one of my intentions for 2009 is to Find my passion

I must say that 2008 was quite a year for me. My husband had two heart attacks, an open heart surgery, 5 way bypass and we lost our house.

I would like 2009 to be a better year for sure!”

I’m sure most of us can sympathize with her in that.  Isn’t it interesting that in the difficult situation she has come through, she realizes that she has lost her passion.   We all have something that brings a sparkle to our eyes.  When times get tough, we can begin to feel like there is nothing left to smile about.  But moving forward often means finding something that reignites that passion again.  Patricia is smart to place an emphasis on it.

“I believe when we are good to ourselves we will be good to others. When we are not good to ourselves we are not good to others either. There are exceptions to this rule, but on the whole it tends to go this way.”

Let me ask you this.  What is it that you had to let go of because there was no money for it or maybe you were too tired to do it anymore?  When you figure that out, the next question is how can you incorporate it into your life today?  Maybe you played an instrument or wrote poetry or sewed or gardened, etc.   Whatever it is that makes the sun shine a little brighter in your neighborhood is worth resurrecting.  It may not bring in any money but if it feeds your soul, then you will be better equipped to face your next financial battle and is a key to moving forward.
