My Mom told me that there is an old saying that the “Blacksmith’s horses run barefoot” That’s a cute way of saying that when you make your living doing something, it is generally the last thing you want to do when you get home. Case in point, I have been cleaning house for some lovely people for the last 4 years and you would not want to see what my shower looks like.
I am trying to find some highly effective home remedies that are non-toxic and generally get the job done. For the most part, using things like vinegar and lemon juice head the list but I am open to other suggestions.
One of the things that has given me grief over the years has been soap and water deposits on glass shower doors. I have been using tub and tile cleaner to try to loosen the gunk and then Windex to clean the glass but it wasn’t the best solution. A couple of weeks ago I was reading an old email about the uses of WD40. One of the things listed was shower doors so I tried it. Since it penetrates, I sprayed it on and let it sit a few minutes. When I cleaned the door it came much cleaner with less effort than any of the other methods I had tried. That’s what I’m talking about!
If you have any tried and true favorites, please comment and share with the rest of us.
