Hi, I’ve been married for 33 years to the same man. We have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. During that time we had a plant nursery business for almost 20 years. Part of that time I also homeschooled my children. No, I’m not wonder woman and sometimes my management skills failed and I had to deal with what ever was yelling the loudest but I learned to successfully cope. My husband is on disability because of muscular dystrophy so I know what it is to live on a shoestring.
It is so important to have a support group that can give a word of encouragement when you get stymied. There were some Christmases that would have been pretty barren if my family hadn’t sent little gifts to my children. I am so grateful for the help I have been given and hope I can extend it to someone else.
We benefited from living in the country where my children had room to explore and make their own fun. The biggest complement I ever received was from my daughter when she recently said, “Mom, I never knew we were poor until I got old enough to spend the night at some of my friends houses. I never felt deprived.” Today she is thankful for things she learned growing up as she is raising her own family on a tight budget. She knows that money doesn’t buy happiness and there is always a way through the tight spots if you trust God.
Rather than hopeless doom and gloom, let’s find a way to overcome our difficulties and head to a brighter tomorrow. We can do it together!
